Cameras to hit the streets of Dungarvan and An Rinn!
Production is set to begin on Bláth na hAoise, an innovative and heart-warming documentary that will centre on the Déise Day Care Centre, Dungarvan. This landmark bilingual observational documentary reveals what it is like to be old in Ireland in the 21st century and will follow a year in the life of one of the busiest centres in the country catering for our older generation. It will feature some of our most loved older relatives, neighbours and friends as well as those who put so much of their time and energy into making the centre the amazing service it is. It will showcase the local community and surrounding areas and capture the gorgeous scenery, including the Comeragh Mountains and sea views, for viewers all over Ireland and further afield.
Red Shoe Productions will produce the documentary for TG4 with Maggie Breathnach on board as producer/director and Séamus Ó hAodha on camera with the invaluable talent of all at the Déise Day Centre. Red Shoe is the IFTA winning company behind Imeall, Hup, Mo Mhóirchoir Féin – A Prayer, Fleadh Cheoil for RTÉ and House of Art. Red Shoe is also in the midst of producing Gradam Ceoil, the TG4 traditional Irish Music Awards. It will take place in the Waterfront in Belfast on 23rd of February, 2020. Red Shoe’s mission and purpose is to create imaginative, intelligent, and thought-provoking programmes for a wide range of audiences and broadcasters. They are storytellers that provide audiences with visually distinctive programmes that resonate long after the show has aired. Their goal is to ignite the curious ear, by how real people live their lives.
Red Shoe Productions is also looking forward to launching their new initiative with Creative Ireland in Seirbhís Iarscoile na Rinne. ‘Fís na hÓige’ will be an after schools club which introduces children from An Rinn to media production. The participants will get the opportunity to produce, direct and star in their own movies and at the end they will have produced two short Irish language films with trained industry professionals including a camera person and an editor. In Early 2020, the Red Carpet will be rolled out for the children for a Gala screening of their films and an Oscars Party.
A month ago, the successful projects of Round 33 of the Sound & Vision Scheme were announced. Amongst the numerous great radio and TV projects was Red Shoe Production’s passion project of the last few years, Bláth na hAoise. The documentary wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, TG4, the Education & Training Board, Waterford Arts, the amazing work of Day Centre Manager, Margaret Coffey and Margaret Organ of Waterford County Council.
